PROCESS ENGINEERING
- Polishing, lapping and grinding of glass, ceramics, silicon and electronic/photonic materials.
Development of new process and optimization of existing processes to address flatness problems, low/uneven removal and scratching/breakage issues,
and to optimize throughput, yield, and lower cost per unit.
- Evaluation of lapping plate and polishing pad removal/wear characteristics on double-sided
polishing/lapping/grinding equipment. Development of plate/pad cleaning/conditioning processes to eliminate extend plate/pad life and improve
flatness, roughness, and uneven removal issues.
- Product evaluation using DOE (Design Of Experiments) methodology.
MACHINE TOOL REPAIR AND UPGRADES
- Specializing in precision polishing, lapping & grinding equipment manufactured by
Speedfam, Strasbaugh, Lapmaster, Fujikoshi and Hamai.
- General troubleshooting and diagnosis.
- Repair/replacement of drive motors, controllers and VFDs/inverters. Upgrading of older eddy-current AC
drive systems to more reliable and energy-saving VFD systems.
- Diagnosis of electrical system and repair/replacement of control components. Upgrading relay-logic and
manual control systems to PLC and HMI based systems for increased reliability and operational flexibility.
- Installation and modification of thickness control systems on double-sided lapping/polishing/grinding machines.
CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTATION
- Design of electricals/controls for new equipment.
- Repair/upgrade of existing controls systems, including PLCs, touch screen and electromechanical control panels.
- Troubleshooting of sensors/instruments and other critical control systems components. Experience with common analog, digital
serial control communications technologies.
